The Real Macaws

Jazz Improvisation Dennis Rollins
Over recent months the award winning Garforth Jazz Rock Band
has been working with top UK Jazz Trombonist, Dennis Rollins. Dennis
has been leading masterclass workshops on improvisation and ensemble
playing. He will perform as a guest with the band on the main stage

Street Band Project The Real Macaws
The Real Macaws have been working alongside young musicians
from Garforth Community College to develop a new street
band for the town. The students have been developing their improvisation
skills and playing without written music.The new band On
The Street will perform alongside the The Real Macaws
on Main Street,Garforth on Festival Saturday (8th July).

The Love Arts Project
Children from Ninelands, East Garforth and
St.Benedicts primary schools will be honing their artistic
skills and having fun with specialist street art company,The
Love Arts. They will be responsible for creating exciting
sculptures for display. Come along to the street festival on Saturday
8th July to see what they ve been up to.
Circus Workshops Urban Circus
Led by Urban Circus, 100s of pupils from Kippax Greenfields,
Ninelands, East Garforth ,and St.
Benedicts primary schools will learn new skills enabling them
to perform at the street festival. There will be an opportunity
for anyone to take part in drop in workshops on Garforth
Main Street on the 8th July (Festival Saturday).
Flag Project Garforth Community College
During the festival period all local primary school children from
Swillington ,Kippax Greenfields, East Garforth,
Strawberry Fields, St Benedicts, Green
Lane and 'Ninelands will each design their own Flag.
The flags will be displayed across lampposts to provide a fitting
welcome to the town. This project will be led by Garforth Community
College Art Department.

SLP College

Music
Theatre Project SLP College
Led by SLP College,approximately 100 primary school children from
'Ninelands ,Strawberry Fields, St. Benedicts
and Kippax Green Fields will prepare excerpts from musicals
ranging from The Lion King to The Wizard of Oz.
Presented on the 30th June, this will provide a great launch event
for the 2006 Festival.

A Perfect Pitch Garforth Community
College
Following on from the success of the Big Sing in 2005,
young singers will come together once more to perform three songs
en masse at Garforth Town Football Club. Led by Musical
Director Charlotte Evans, the event on Tuesday 4th July will also
feature individual items from local primary school children.
