Dennis
Rollins |
DENNIS ROLLINS BADBONE & CO.
Dennis Rollins - perhaps best known for his work with Courtney Pine
and The Jazz Warriors - brings a unique and exciting approach to the
trombone in a repertoire of groove-based, funky dance music with jazz
overtones. His impressive history of working with Baba Maal, Jamiroquai,
US3, Brand New Heavies and Blur is understandable once youve
heard him. Alongside Dennis mighty trombone sound you can hear
former Tomorrows Warriors star Jay Phelps on trumpet and flugelhorn,
Johnny Heyes on guitar, Zoltan Dekany on acoustic bass, Alex Morgan
on keys and Sammy Hendricks on drums. Unsurprisingly, Dennis Rollins
Badbone & Co has been nominated for the 2006 BBC Jazz Awards in
the Jazz Line up Best Band category. Sure to get the party going Badbone
& Co.will certainly be a real highlight on the evening of Festival
Saturday.
Dennis is that rarest of jazz beasts: a genuine star

Cara
Dillon |
CARA DILLON
Cara Dillons exquisite, crystalline vocals have been winning
her acclaim ever since she won the All Ireland Singing Trophy at the
age of 14. Competing against the likes of Sinead O Connor and
Enya she won the prestigious Meteor Award for best female singer in
2004. Since then she has performed to appreciative audiences the world
over. Her album Sweet Liberty was described as
a
quietly assured masterpiece Time Out. She will be showcasing
her new album with her equally impressive band.
Cara Dillon, is without exaggeration, amongst the very finest
to be heard today. fRoots

ACOUSTIC CHUMBAWAMBA
A rare opportunity to see the world renowned band for FREE! They will
be performing music from their new album A Singsong and a Scrap
- plus songs from their back catalogue. The latest re-incarnation
of Chumbawamba is a fantastic mix of traditional English music: unplugged
pop, choral secular music, jangly acoustic singalongs plus great stories
- bringing a punk sensibility to a traditional musical form.
Surely not to be missed!
Intriguing and original...predictably unexpected...impressive.
